The relationship between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona has not yet said its final word. After the Griezmann case, and with Joao Félix and Carrasco eyeing Camp Nou for the next season, the Rojiblancos could add another Barcelona player to their squad after Memphis Depay. We’re talking about Jordi Alba.
The Colchoneros desperately need to strengthen their weakened left-back position, and with the difficulty of signing José Luis Gayá, who is uncertain about his future at Valencia, the Barcelona full-back is being considered.
Alba, an international player for Spain, has lost his role as an undisputed starter in favor of Balde at Barcelona, so he would accept a move to the capital to regain his prominence. The Rojiblancos have had Alba on their agenda for the past two seasons, but 2023 is the best time to make the deal happen.
At 33 years old, Alba’s contract with Barcelona runs until 2024, but it’s unlikely to be renewed. The Catalan club needs to save on his wages, so they could let him go for a fee of less than €5 million. Atlético Madrid wants him, and only the player’s consent is missing.
