This season, Napoli has been a revelation, topping Serie A by a substantial margin and getting to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. While this is good news, it also indicates that clubs with more financial resources are beginning to show interest in signing talents like Hirving Lozano.
As a result, it is probable that Lozano may depart the Italian club over the next few months, as Premier League clubs are ready to sign him. Leading sources in England indicate that Chelsea is willing to spend 28 million euros for the Mexican attacker. Although Arsenal, Everton, and Newcastle have also expressed interest, Chelsea is presently in the lead in the bidding war.
This creates a conundrum for Napoli, given Lozano’s contract with the team is slated to expire in June 2024, and club officials had previously stated a desire to extend it. But, with such a substantial offer on the table, they will have to decide whether to favor the team’s most successful lineup in Italy or the club’s finances.
Strangely, Napoli’s director Cristiano Giuntoli recently discussed probable contract renewals for Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia, and Kim with transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, but made no mention of Lozano’s renewal. This indicates that the Mexican international’s time with Napoli may have ended after three and a half years.
